Ode to Canon

Canon's blessing outfit and blanket. He wore this cute little vest once before it was too small.
Canon as a newborn. That phase didn't last long, did it?

They change so much in such a short time. When we brought Canon home, he fit into his car seat, cradle, newborn diapers and 0-3 month clothes. Now he doesn't fit into any of those things! We had to adjust his car seat belt twice within the first month. He's also in size 2 diapers and I just had to bust out the 9 month clothes today. What happened to my baby? He's turned into a tank, as Uncle Trent would say. And like Scott pointed out, every tank has a "cannon", so I guess the name fits. :)
I love the song Canon in D. I looked up what "canon" meant because I've heard it used to reference several things. It could be a song, a canon of scripture or law, but the definition that caught my attention was one that said it was the best representative work. Since my Canon will be influenced by both his parents and his siblings, he will be the best representative work of all of us as a family. And I love it when names have a story or meaning behind them.

Safe harbor
This is a poem I love by Dinah Maria Mulock Craik.
Safe Harbor
"Oh, the comfort-the
inexpressible
comfort of feeling safe
with a person-having
neither to weigh
thoughts nor measure
words, but pouring
them all right out, just as
they are, chaff and
grain together; certain
that a faithful hand
will take and sift them,
keep what is worth
keeping, and then with
the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."
